Well, yeah, maybe; BUT, what if the world had seen some of the MANY security videos seized immediately following the "attack" on the Pentagon? What if the 911 Commission had been forthright with the truth? What if the American people had DEMANDED A VALID explaination of why there was NO DEBRIS FROM A JETLINER AT THE PA CRASH SITE? The questions go on and on, and until they are answered we will never really know if it had been better if we had ignored the 9/11 "attack" or NOT. I mean, what the hell do we absolutely know for a fact is real in regard to 9/11anyway? NOT not very damn much, THAT'S WHAT.

Ask your Congresspeople this question:

WHY did the worlds greatest military power FAIL to defend even its own HQ?

The cause of 9/11 is the big elephant in the room. The truth hurts and most Americans aren't ready just yet to deal with the pain. The "can't happen here" crowds still sees America through blinders. Just wave the flag and everything will be all better. We used to be a great country. Not anymore. We're mistrusted everywhere and our president is an international joke.

sure it makes sense, but think back to the day of 9/11. Did ANYONE want to just ignore it?

If the entire Muslim world was a global conspiracy to destroy our freedoms and end our country, then why OH WHY are we not bombing every country in the region into dust? Answer: Because the threat is overblown. If this threat is so real and such a massive present danger to our way of life, then why OH WHY don't we have a draft? If the future of America hangs in the balance and things are so damn dangerous, you'd think conscription would be our NUMBER ONE priority. But, no.It's all bullshit. Remember the old saying, "Blood Is Thicker Than Water".Well, bullshit is thicker than blood.

the smartest thing to due after 911 would have been to pour money into securing our borders to minimize the likelihood of an event like this ever happening again...

Look, the solution to this problem would have been very simple, and it could have been accomplished without invading a single goddamn country - Put a bounty on Osama's head and the heads of anyone near the top of his organization. I'm not talking about the piddly $50 million we have on his head now - I mean a few orders of magnitude larger than that. I think $50 billion would have done the trick, and that still would have been much, much cheaper than Iraq and Afghanistan, and ONLY those who we wanted would have been apprehended/killed.

It's too early to tell, I think. Ask me again in another five years.

yeah, you can't do nothing when 4000 people die!!! Except if they are, say, Iraqis (we've killed more than 4000), or people who die of lung cancer (100000 a year), or people who die in Rwanda, or people who die of automobile accidents. You HAVE TO INVADE A COUNTRY AND KILL EVERYONE AND SPEND TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS DOING SO!!! Otherwise you're a pussy, obviously.

Decades of "doing nothing" or very little is what resulted in the attacks of 9/11. Clinton was a pussy, Bush Sr was a pussy, and Reagan was a pussy. They all backed down after international pressure. I hate the war in Iraq, but I think it has been adequately demonstrated that a policy of placating critics ultimately accomplishes very little.

You probably say that because you can't understand the big words he is using such as 'placating'.

You are a fucking idiot too!!! So in the 20 - 30 years since Reagan has been president, how many people have died from Terrorism? How many since GW has been in office. You can even completely ignore the deaths on 9/11. How many has GW sent to their death to "Show them"? This war is killing more Americans than any fucking terrorist attacks have. Dumbass!!

Doing nothing would have been better than what happened --- we wouldn't be pissing trillions into an illegal war and inciting more and more hatred against us. Doing nothing wouldn't be the best thing to do, but it would be better than how our government reacted.

The saudis were behind this and yet we attack afghanistan. Al Qaeda is behind the support for troops in Afghanistan, so we attack IRAQ. Radical muslim clerics are telling young people in Saudi Arabia to go fight the infidel in IRAQ and we kill civillians by the thousands.

OUR TAXES PAY FOR THIS WAR, HALLIBURTON, KBR & BLACKWATER ARE PROFITING OFF THE LIVES OF OUR SERVICEMEN. ENOUGH ALREADY.

In in the long run going to war versus just "ignoring" the situation would have been better i suppose but how the hell are you going to ignore all the deaths and blatent attack on our country. More attacks would have happened had war not been started. Couldn't just sit back like pussies and get smacked around.

Comment 2 is ludicrous. Take your conspiracy BS somewhere else. You would hate Bush no matter what so your opinion and "theory" hold little weight.

Sticking your head in the sand and hoping terrorists just dont blow up the next set of buildings is idiocy and cowardess.

i love it when people throw around the "coward" rhetoric. Who the fuck are the terrorists? The reason we have terrorists is because of our oppressive and terrible foreign policy. Maybe if you thought for yourself for a moment you would put yourself in the place of other people around the world.

From all of the vasts amounts information that i have seen regarding this whole thing.... i highly doubt the terrorists even really existed or had anything to do with it.

Try getting your information from something other than the TV. Remember that's what THEY want you to see.

sylvie-b,

The question is not, what would have been the best thing to have done; the question is how would doing nothing have compared to what actually was done. It's an indictment of what actually occured, not a statement that it is optimal to do nothing.
