Obama's "small town" comment

Obama's recent political blunder involves snobbing little town america: "You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them.

It's not surprising then they get bitter. They cling to guns, or religion, or antipathy to people who aren't like them, or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

As far as I know, this was the first time that ANY politician has touched on this subject at all, and I didn't expect it. It's as though he just finished reading Thomas Frank's "What's The Matter With Kansas?"-I do wish that he had put it differently, though.

It was dumb from a campaign standpoint at the very least. It gives the impression that he lacks tact, impulse control and forethought.

What was so bad about it? Geez! Like if they haven't said worser things to each other.
