As far as I know, this was the first time that ANY politician has touched on this subject at all, and I didn't expect it. It's as though he just finished reading Thomas Frank's "What's The Matter With Kansas?"-I do wish that he had put it differently, though.

yeah, that comment kind of bothered me
It was dumb from a campaign standpoint at the very least. It gives the impression that he lacks tact, impulse control and forethought.
What was so bad about it? Geez! Like if they haven't said worser things to each other.
