is it possible for you to go on a vacation and leave your computer and cell phone (any mobile technology for communication) behind for the entire time you are gone?

sorry mscrowe I just saw this. I am a political consultant. When I'm representing someone they expect you to be handy for every emotional emergency they have.

That's sorta like asking me if I could take some time off to enjoy life, and yet deny myself the only thing that brings me any joy.  I could leave it behind, but... what kind of sucky vacation would that be.
