I believe some cats do weigh more (Ragdolls)? Not really sure they weigh that much, but maybe this cat has some genes in it from a larger cat?  But also, we need to care about our animals health and over eating is just as wrong for animals as it is for people!  Anyone up for sending this cat a treadmill?  ;)

Well, there wasn't an in-between choice here.  While I agree with Scotkitty that there is probably more going on here than just over-eating, this cat is definitely not healthy, and that is NOT funny.

My average female cat weighs 7-9 pounds.  My males weigh 10 all the way up to 18 pounds (depending on whether it's a Scottish Fold or a British SH cat).  Maine Coon males can weigh up to 25 pounds.  Usually, cats that are grossly over weight due to food intake have much smaller heads then their body.  This cats head is fairly large. While 35 pounds is a bit much, part of it is due to over eating and part is due to his genetics (he could be part British SH which is the largest SH breed of cat).  Just like in humans, cats can have problems such as Hypothyroid or a Hyper Pituitary gland.  It's hard to say without more info on the cat which does look a lot like an overweight British SH.  I don't think this cats weight is all due to just over eating.
