Putin is establishing a dictatorship in Russia. Should the world do something?

Incredibly depressing article about Russia on New York Times today. Apperantly, Putin is establishing a dictatorship and violently quells all resistance.

It's sad that everyone in the U.S. is so concerned about the upcoming election (which is a good thing but not to the extent...) that they are missing out on what is going on around the world. Another dictator? Hasn't Russia learned that dictators don't really work out so well? Score one for Greed (if it can be called that, because Russia kind of keeps getting screwed out of neccesities in their past. Can't we just give them another port city?

We can't just turn a blind eye and let them suffer. That's what happened in Darfur.
