Per much of what I read, he brought Germany to the brink of supremacy, and then snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Germany was unstoppable, until they quit using their immensely successful Blitzkrieg attacks, turned their backs on enemies that were severely crippled, but not eliminated, and started fighting people somewhat randomly.
It doesn't seem that hard for a totalitarian dictator to achieve a great amount of works he wanted to get done, any oppositions to his policies were eliminated. Efficient, yes; great leader, no.
maybe not a great leader, but it is amazing that he when from a farm boy to the worlds most infamous dictator.

For what he did accomplish it's more than most leaders have done, even though he failed we know his task was not easy.
He did do some good things, a national highway system for example, but "great leader?" I won't go that far. As a human being, he was crap.
