A proposed legislature will prohibit restaurants from serving obese people

A Mississippi representative is trying to pass a legislature that will prohibit restaurants from serving food to people who are obese, by criteria to be determined by the board of health. The bill, House Bill 282, was proposed on Friday by W.T. Mayhall, Jr., who doesn't really expect it to be passed, but intends for it to raise awareness to the problem ofobesity. (source)

Not all obese people are the weight that they are because they eat too much.  Probably most, but not all.  Isn't this taken into account? Besides, it probably won't pass - restaurants want their money, fat people will probably spend more.

This rep. probably supports bringing back Jim Crow laws, too.

First drug crime, now this, Obviously the prerogative here is to turn america from the land of the free to the land of the same. Seems like these people will not learn to  value freedom  until it's all gone.

There are much better ways of raising obesity awareness than stupid legislation.  If a larger-than-average man wants to enjoy a dinner out with his family--let him!  period.  FREE COUNTRY-- that's what America used to be.

Ridiculous. First smokers, then fat people? Go for Christians first! Or course, this is Hillbilly Mississipi, so that makes it bearable. Yee-haw!

How stupid...they will just go to the drive-thru window at McDonalds.  Ban politicians for they are the ones that keep passing stupid laws.  Better yet..lets close all bars and restuarants so people will have to cook and get drunk at home.  The law will never pass as it will effect all the fat and lazy politicians.

I realize that for 75+% of the overweight people the problem is eating too much and exercising too little.  All the posts on here stating ways of keeping fatter people out of the way of the thinner crowd, are ridiculous.  How many people that are reading this can state without a shred of guilt or doubt that they don't have an overweight friend or family member?  I think the legislature should pass that bill.  For this reason only:  When they are open for hours upon hours every day and only get those that eat about 4-5 dollars of food then leave, you will see the restaurants close down.  Then you'll see the restaurant owners complaining to have the bill revoked.  Overweight people have a right to dine out.  Personally, I hate to be at a restaurant and hear someone say "oh, just a salad" and then see them dang near lick the plate clean.

Just another Jim Crow law from the land of the Klan.  Obviously Mayhall needs to be taken out back of the woodshed for the butt-whipping Daddy never gave him as a child.

And let's add to that the people who can't spell to save their lives.  Or would the government have to start subsidizing dictionaries, too?

"Cruel. What's next? We line them up and shoot them?" Yeah. That about sums it up. Lining them up and shooting them is a good idea. But for the restaraunt thing I am all for it. I don't want to see your jiggling fat ass trying to choke down even more greasy trash while I'm trying to eat. Fat people make me want to vomit.
