Who do you think can make a bigger star out of Rhydian?

Rhydian Roberts, who came at second place on X Factor last night, is now reportedly at the centre of a tug-of-war between Simon Cowell and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, as the pair fight to control his future.

Theatre legend has been secretly texting Rhydian on his mobile phone as he prepares to cast a new Broadway version of The Phantom of the Opera, called The Phantom of Manhattan.

Last night, Rhydian’s uncle Nigel Roberts, 49, revealed: “Sir Andrew has been texting Rhydian before he goes on stage most Saturdays to wish him good luck.

“He has been a fan ever since Rhydian performed Phantom of The Opera on The X Factor. He is a fan. There has been talk of Rhydian starring in the new version of Phantom in America in 2009.”

After trying to promote himself at Andrew Lloyd Webber's expense, and ALW denial, Rhydian now admits that Andrew Lloyd Webber never talked to him about the Phantom role at all. And in trying to backpedal re that, he claimed to be in talks with Cameron Mackintosh instead. But that apparently based on ONE email (?), not even through his management. IF it exists at all, IF not someone's idea of a joke, to have blabbed immediately to the press again was just too stupid for words. Hasn't he learnt his lesson? There was another case re his claiming to be going to be on Little Britain too, which got officially denied as well. The guy is a fantasist!
