Jean Nouvel's design for a dramatic spire that will rise above the Moma
A couple of days ago, architect Jean Nouvel has unveiled his design for a
new seventy-five story tower adjacent to the Museum of Modern Art in Midtown Manhattan. The tower will include a seven star hotel and 120 luxury condos, while its lower floors will provide the Moma with 40,000 additional square feet of gallery space.
The New York Times has already described it as "rooted in the mythology of New York, in particular the work of Hugh Ferriss, whose dark, haunting renderings of an imaginary Manhattan helped define its dreamlike image as the early-20th-century metropolis."
