Shanghai, which will host the World Expo next year, launched a campaign to prevent people in pyjamas from walking in the streets

Many Shanghai residents are used to walk around the city in their pyjamas. While prepering for the 2010 World Expo, the municipal government is making every effort to stop them from doing so. One ofthe reasons that pyjamas became so common in the streets of Shanghai, is that in some neighborhoods, people use outdoor communal toilets, thus the boundaries of what is considered home have expanded

You can look at smore photos of Shanghai people wearing pyjamas here

It has to be socially acceptable, unlike night club or rave cloths; you wear that at the night club not in the streets in broad daylight.

It's a little inappropriate, It's no different from military uniforms; in the cities they should be taken off because military life has nothing to do with every day city life--it's in appropriate. You can just dress however you want when you go outside.
