Sep 6th, 2009 | Prescription survey

I just went and got my medicine today. I found out the price went up while my Mental Health Service Plan only paid 450 dollars of it. I have to pay 35 dollars extra that I don't have. Do you think it is fair for medicine companies to raise prices?

I figure that if they raise the price of the medicines. The insurance companies should raise their bar on what they have to pay. It only sounds fair.

It's kind sick that medicine is a business. If you ain't got the money tough!

Lets start with the story without medicine. Before I was diagnosed I could hear voices all the time. They told me to do things and sometimes I listened. This was growing up and I was always paranoid as a kid. Well when I graduated from high school. I got a job and things went so so. I started hearing strong voices and they really told me that my friends are out to get me. They were trying to poison me and so I must take them out. I never hurt anyone so I would just hearing voices trying to poison me. It got so bad that I went to the doctor about 40 times in a year. This was almost a everyday thing and I kept calling the doctors a liar. I got pretty violent and yelled at their face. My head always hurt and I was incoherent. I ended up losing my job and most of my friends. Well after the first time I went to the insane asylum and they put me on pills. I have been through hell trying to find the right combo and still going through it now. It was so bad that I can barely work as it is. I can't handle a 40 hour job anymore. I have been struck down to part time. For the record I have been in the mental institution about 4 times. The doctors are now figuring me out. I have been through hell and it was all because of my mental illness. I do get evil impulses like all schitzoids do but I control them. Without medicine I would be in the insane asylum for good.

I dont think you have mental health problem. Are you sure you are not being tricked by the insurance/doctors so you are now spending money that you shouldn't spend?

I had extra money from a little raise so it worked out plus whatever bill that I don't pay will get paid next month. I get paid 6 times so it all works out. I should get better insurance by december or january so it will be great.

No one should make increased profits from human misery. It's isn't right.

I've always found this sort of practice very unfair. Like if you have a lifethreatening disease and you need to buy a medication that is an insane price, well you have to pay unless you want to die. I've looked at a lot of cases like this in my Economics courses. I doubt the president will look into this. According to a lot of Americans he's a communist for the whole health care thing.
