Should Australia introduce a compulsory DNA database of all citizens to aid in criminal investigations?

Hey, this is for my year twelve legal studies assessment and it would be really helpful to get public opinion on this issue. DNA databases already exist, but only criminals are listed. My proposal is to increase this for all citizens, and it will ONLY be used for criminal investigations. For more info on security, got to CrimTrac and look up NCIDD. Having this database could solve crimes faster and more accurately, preventing more crimes by the same perpetrator, deterring crime in others and absolving innocent people from crimes they didn't commit. It would fast track investigation processes, not replace them. Thankyou

They should only have a DNA database for violent offenders.
