Gladly. 1) "question préparatoire" (to obtain a confession) was abolished in 1780, "question préalable" (to force the criminal to reveal his accomplices) in 1788. 2) cruel methods of execution were abolished by the Revolution.

I agree too. The guillotine was introduced just a few years after judicial torture was abolished by King Louis XVI.

Was put in chage of finding a way to kill people in a humane and unpainful way and that's what he came up with. Not bad really.
