i imagine the characters similar to how they are described in the book. if a person is described beautifull then i imagine it beautifull. also they're actions shape them for me.
It depends of my personal impression about that character. If I like him/her, I'll probably make him more physically attractive, if behavior of that character irresistibly reminds me on myself, maybe I'll imagine his look similar to myown (inadvertently) . I think mostly I Imagine them the way they are described in book. (with a bit of my own concept, of course)
