iTunes is selling ringtones now, and they're more expensive than the actual songs

I think the real question is - why do "ringtones" still exist - they're basically just short clips off of songs and every worthwhile cellphone should be able to "make them" without any help from benefitters such as apple.

I pay 1.99 to 2.49 for ringtones from ATT as it is, this isn't a switch at all, considering I own almost 3000 songs on Itunes already.  If I like the ringtone, I am pretty sure I like the song too and would have likely bought the song already.  really, its a non issue.  How many people need more than 10 ringtones a year?
