NYtimes reports China is investing heavily in research and development of electric vehicle technologies. This comes just as the US government bails the big auto companies of Detroit out, and the big three also decide to focus on Electric car technology. Is this the new space race?

Part of me wishes the Chinese will dominate the electric car market, so those stupid Detroit companies get what they deserve. On the other hand, I wouldn't want China to become any stronger. So maybe another country... Japan?
