The most highly touted tax cut in the original stimulus proposal now translates into $7.70 a week for middle-class workers....is this what you were expecting out of the massive stimulus bill?

Officials estimated it would mean about $13 a week more in people's paychecks this year when withholding tables are adjusted in late spring. Next year, the measure could yield workers about $8 a week. Critics say that's unlikely to do much to boost consumption.

"The most highly touted tax cut in the original proposal now translates into $7.70 a week for middle-class workers," said Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.

we shouldn't, we are all just told one thing and given something else.  We are expected to either take it lying down or in the ass.  Ahh thank you president Obama.

Minimum wages here in Australia are (adjusted for fluctuating exchange rates) at least double US minimum wage.  Even with higher tax rates, Australians bring more cash home. And those who cannot find work actually get unemployment benefits and rehabilitation programs.  Plus simply giving money to people in the form of tax cuts does very little. Employing people in government programs such as those repairing bridges and levybanks and AIDS prevention programs and pollution cleanup and so forth gives the unemployed the opportunity to earn their money instead of free " sit down money" plus, a repaired bridge or a repaired levybank will be less likely to collapse, and the other stuff will have other benefits.

I'm an 18 year old in Canada making $11.15 an hour. That's about $9.00 American. It's pretty disappointing for an American if you ask me. The minimum in Quebec is like $9:00. And the fact that the worker would only be making $7.70 a week? That's ridiculous.
