we need to be more concerned with following the constitution...in fact when mr. obama took the oath of office of the president of the united states he swore to uphold the constitution...btw have you looked at the results of this poll phil? MOST people agree with me on this one...also how are you going to handle paying for every flush you have to make down under? sounds like you need to be more concerned about things going on in the country you live in....

If it needs to be done, who else will be able to do it? Regardless of constitutionality, this is the kind of role that the US federal government has taken for some time, under both the Democrats and Republicans, and few have complained.

it is NOT the job of the federal government....PERIOD...yo ur lack of understanding of the constitution of the united states of america is showing phil....obama is supposed to be creating 3 to 4 million NEW jobs...what part of that do you NOT understand?....why do you fight so hard to defend when you are not even a citizen of the usa?

If you started whole new programs, then massive amounts of money would be used up in things like rent and large overheads. Giving the money to organisations that are already in existance, will mean they will be able to spend 100 percent of this money on what it was meant for, that is hiring new people. What would YOU have in the stimulus bill? More and more tax cuts for the wealthy, cutting taxes so low that nobody ends up paying taxes and the whole country goes bankrupt?

Then there are few overheads like rent... They can spend 100% of the money they get on hiring new people. And many of the organisations that already exist that have had extra funding from the bill were vastly understaffed during the Bush era.

small electric vehicles will save money in the long run, you are not spending money on oil imported from Saudi Arabia and Iran and Venezuela. Creating 3 million new jobs IS stimulating the economy. Such spending has a multiplier effect: The people who now have jobs will go out and buy a car, because they need to drive to get to work, and they will go out and buy clothes and TVs and whatever else they were holding out on buying when they were unemployed. If you give money in the form of tax cuts to those who already have money, they will be less inclined to spend it, because they do not NEED to spend it, and this eliminates the multiplier effect. The jobs to combat AIDS are already there, but this bill hires more people to do that. Building electric vehicles puts people in Detroit to work, people who would otherwise have been laid off.

how many jobs can you get for thirty million dollars? If it employs people who would have otherwise been unemployed, it works as a stimulus.

They did that. The republicans and George W Bush are out. Obama has had nearly a month. Not enough time to even slow the damage, let alone get things working again.

I will not vote for any person who voted "Yea" on this bill. What happened to the transparency? What happened to the bipartisan. Bipartisan isn't where you agree with someone because they tell you to. It's when both parties come to an agreement after a good long debate over it. Senator Brown didn't read it because he was at a wake. There is no way he read it. He just voted Yea.

This is by far one of the worst spending sprees that washington will be involved in. Obama says that we won't see much result from it for a year or two. By that time they will have passed another couple of bills that they will demand are crucial to the effectiveness of the first bill. They threw extras in there that have zero to do with rapid stimulating effects on the economy. Building roads is budgetted every year so that wasn't needed in this. Neither is HIV prevention or condom production or saving the mouse that Pelosi is so hung up on. This is an absolute disgrace and not one of the senators or congressmen should be re-elected. Obama,Biden,Pelosi,Frank, Reid,Dodd,Raum,Rangel,Rei ch,deihtner and a few more should be brought up on charges and sent to prison. Go to; Rangel/Reich video on stimulus. Go to Harry Reid+taxes+voluntary

Starting in 2001 Bush the dems were warned of fanni/freddie. Barney said they were fundamentally sound. Greenspan warned of this as well. The dems refused to liten. The recorded confernces are on youtube

then why are such things done by the Army Corps of Engineers? The states are either not willing or not capable of  doing these things, which is why the Federal government is taking up the slack. What Obama is doing is what Roosevelt did. Getting people to work fixing roads and bridges and building infrastructure. Do you have a problem with Roosevelt's programs too?

The constitution allows, when the governnment stops working for the people, it's time for a new government. Friends, It is now that time!

most of what you say is NOT the job of the federal government...it is the job of the states....and it is not the job of the federal government to tell me what to drive...and they don't need to spend my tax money on themselves...
