Should Michelle Obama have worn an outfit by an Afro-American designer on Inauguration Day?

From Jezebel: Amnau Eele, cofounder of the Black Artists Association, has expressed her disappointment from Michelle Obama, who didn't wear any ensemble by an African-American on Inauguration Day.

"It’s fine and good if you want to be all ‘Kumbaya’ and ‘We Are the World’ by representing all different countries. But if you are going to have Isabel Toledo do the inauguration dress, and Jason Wu do the evening gown, why not have Kevan Hall, B Michael, Stephen Burrows or any of the other black designers do something too?", says Eele.

I dont see what difference it makes what designer she uses. Just because she is black it needs to be a black designer? Please. Would you hve been happy if she had worn cornrows too?

I do not see how it is important who made the damn dress. She looked very beautiful, did she not?

besides the media, these types of groups are what is keeping the focus of everything on race.  Im a little tired of it.  They need to quit making mountains out of mole hills.  We obviously live in a multi-racial society...and we have a multi-racial President now, lets start this new "era" right and knock it off.   Oh, and give gays the right to marry. haha I may as well put all my bitches in now

It's just one of those things, ya know? I mean, she could have. But a dress is a dress. And why not hire the designer which makes the prettiest dress, and not mess around?
