CNN doc Sanjay Gupta for surgeon general?

CNN is reporting that Barack Obama has approached their "House Call" host, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, to be surgeon general of the United States.  "The cable news network said Tuesday that it has kept Gupta from reporting on health care policy and other matters involving the incoming Obama administration since learning he was under consideration for the post," reports the AP.

"Having such a well-known TV personality could bring the surgeon general attention not seen since C. Everett Koop help the position under President Ronald Reagan," says the Huffington Post, though the gist of their headline suggests even they are in disbelief over this cable news "star" being appointed to such an important post.
