Vince Marinello planned his estranged wife's murder to the most minute detail. We know this because of the murder to-do list (complete with crime scene diagram) he left in his home for police to find.

The list reminded him to buy bullets, (which he did. From his regular gun-shop. The only shop that sells the type of ammo that killed Liz) a mustache (which he purchased from his toupee dealer then attempted to flush down his toilet), bike etc...

He even bought himself an alibi. Of course he used his cellphone near the murder scene, voiding the alibi.
