That not a whole lot has changed since 1860. Dixie is still the old Confederacy, only they've changed their name to Republicans. Plantation owners are the hierarchy, everyone else is considered under them, something like slaves. The commoners only get the scraps from a trickle-down economy, much like what Reagan espoused. The only problem is we now live in the 21st century, not the 19th. The rest of the country has progressed while they prefer the latter. Obama raised $1 billion on the internet alone, proving new solutions solve new problems, a different mind-set to those thinking the cotton gin is still in fashion. McCain even admitted he is computer illiterate, not appealing in todays global economy where computers reign for accelerated growth.
