Warning of new Osama bin Laden attack
Paola Totaro, London November 9, 2008
Osama bin Laden is planning an attack against the United States that will "outdo by far" September 11, an Arab newspaper in London has reported.
And according to a former senior Yemeni al-Qaeda operative, the terrorist organisation has entered a "positive phase", reinforcing specific training camps around the world that will lead the next "wave of action" against the West.
The warning, on the front page of an Arabic newspaper published in London, Al-Quds Al-Arabi - and widely reported in the major Italian papers - quotes a person described as being "very close to al-Qaeda" in Yemen.
The paper is edited by Abdel al-Bari Atwan, who is said to be the last journalist to interview Osama bin Laden in 1996. According to the report, bin Laden is himself closely following preparations for an attack against the US and aims to "change the face of world politics and economics". The operative is quoted as saying that "this will be shown by the fact that we now control a major part of the south of Somalia".
The ex-operative says he remains in contact with current chiefs of the organisation in Yemen and that only six months ago bin Laden had sent a message to all jihad cells in the Arab world which asked them not to interact with their governments or local political parties and to deny any request for mediation or formal talks.
The source also said that during the next few days the terrorist organisation may send a sign of its violent intentions.
The warning has emerged at the same time as publication of a report leaked to The Telegraph newspaper which reveals that a document drawn up by the intelligence branch of the Ministry of Defence says that thousands of extremists are active in the UK.
The document says the operatives are predominantly UK-born and aged between 18 and 30. Many are believed to have been trained in overseas terrorist camps.
Security officials, The Telegraph reports, are convinced al-Qaeda cells will attempt another "spectacular" inside the UK with major transport centres, such as airports and train stations, the most likely targets. Other targets include the Houses of Parliament, Whitehall and Buckingham and St James' palaces, with the threat level described as "severe".
As do I.
did i say they were connected? NO
You are in luck, I happen to have several hawks for sale, they are highly trained and perch right outside the oval office. inquire within...
the The one thing that links Obama and Osama is BS.
no can do...i plan to watch him and his administration like a hawk...especially if they try to enact the fairness doctrine...or if they try to create a civilian national security force as strong as our military....and the list does go on and on
You know what? He's been elected. Instead of predicting the nightmares to come, how about we hope that we were wrong and wish him well?
This is actually the reason why having Obama in office scares me. Besides for this, I am happy.
They would declare victory no matter who won. What would you expect? You think they would raise white flags if McCain got in?
so do i
i had heard on the news last night that some jihadists called the obama election a win for them...not good
I think Obama will simply join Osama in an attempt to prevent another disaster in the US, that is what I understand him saying - but Osama is not going to rest until he makes ordinary Americans really feel the pain of having a war being waged in their front porch and back yard, which seems to be his objective all along. I heard the British are also preparing for the worse now, since their friend (the US) has decided to ditch them. I say watch it guys and take heed of the warning.
you seriously believe the CIA is behind Bin Laden? You are powerfully misinformed. Bin Laden is the enemy of both the US and Iran. He is the enemy of every muslim that does not cling strictly to his version of Islam, and he is the enemy of every nonmuslim too.
this means that CIA ( bin ladan ) is against OBAMA .
I think Obama will rise to the challenge.
.... And Bush has made things far worse. -Even so, I do not think it will happen. Why? We know about it. All of Al Q'aida's operations have been surprise attacks. So what will happen is like what happened on September 11. Something big, something unexpected, at a time and a place that is a complete surprise. I believe Obama WILL be tested, because Bush has alienated the rest of the world with his "us vs them" foreign policy. And now the terrorists have nobody to work against. -Such a tactic would have a massive blowback effect on Al Q'aida. Because the US President is so popular overseas, any surprise attack against them (or against their allies) especially so soon after they elected Obama, would cause massive numbers of people to turn on the extremists, even more than now. And what Al Q'aida are hoping for is an insane overreaction, like the one Bush made. And Obama is simply too rational for such an overreaction.-And IF there IS a terrorist attack in the planning, it would have been planned with the Bush administration in control, and it would have happened no matter WHO was in the White House.-Obama will be tested, yes, and I believe that he will pass the test.
i think obama will be tested...how? i am not sure...
Nope it certainly is not any good at all. It scares the crap out of me. Do you think that it is actually legit?
