Ralph Bakshi's animation style

For his new music video, Kanye West and his director, Hupe Williams, chose to use Ralph Bakshi's art and animation style to create a rotoscoped-gone-wild look.

Bakshi, an Israeli-born animator, is responsible for the animated version of The Lord of the Rings saga - way before Peter Jackson even expressed interest in making the books into a film. He also made some other lesser known animation films like Cool World, and American Pop.
