I think that that red smear of republican gain across the South has only a little to do with racism, and more to do with the Bible Belt wanting Palin.

... New Jersey was not forced to give up slavery though. They did it voluntarily. As with Delaware.

Pro-slavery territory? Wha? Quite a few in the blue were pro-slave too. Like, Florida, Delaware, Maryland, and North Carolina. As a matter of fact New Jersey was the last state to give up slavery. Maybe I'm taking this wrong. :-/
