You are absolutely right, Phil.  Let me restate the sentence - "It goes BOTH ways, mate."

How many letters have there been? I venture to say there are maybe a dozen. And all of them would have been posted where you can read them by people who want you to read them. There is a lot of rage at the Far Right out there.

Hatred would imply they matter. I'm just indifferent to their ideology and fear practices. Obama's pastor doesn't interest me in ANY way - that's his decision. All religions have their own dogma, i prefer to live by my own results - not others.

I have read letters now calling my 'kind' honky, and threatening to burn the whole country down if we give 'them' any trouble. I suppose that is not hate? You have no idea how much I waited for the day when we would have a black president. Your own post here conveys hatred - for repubicans at the least. Did you ever listen to cocObamanut's mentor/pastor? That's not hate, I'm sure. It goes both ways, mate.

separation of church and state means nothing to this country.  Everyone had a fit about Romney being Mormon.

There is no REAL Republican Party anymore after last night, only a clan of paranoid remnants of the Confederacy some 140 + years ago. Let them retreat into the shadows where fear and hate preaching belong...

I think I've been around this tree a few times with the Calvinist/Holiness people.  As usual, I stand in the middle... Small picture - free will.  Big picture - God's will.  The two can work at the same time.  Kinda like the difference between you looking at the world from your kitchen window, and then looking at it from outer space.  Just because God knows what you will choose before you choose it, it doesn't mean He makes the choice for you.  He just knew in advance that that's what you'd choose.  It's still your freewill that chose it.  Does that make sense?

If I was religious I would have a very hard time accepting that. I do not believe any benevolent god would install Pol Pot to the throne for example. People have free will don't they?

Sorry, Phil, the above was my post, don't know why it showed up as guest.  Coming from the great witch hunter, I had to laugh at your question - sorry.   I do not interpret 'separation of church and state' like you do, but I do abide by your interpretation to a degree when I can.  I do not expect non Christians to act like Christians.  I respect them in their non Christianity, as long as they do not try to force their non Christianity on me or ones who can't speak for themselves.  If one is a true Christian, one CANNOT divide the two.  But I will not preach a sermon to you.  Put it this way, Christ lives IN me, He's a part of who I am, I take Him everywhere I go.  I tend to believe the ones who appear to live separately from Him do not actually have Him.  Try to separate yourself from your heart.... I also believe in a big picture, in which God is in control of all things.  In this sense, He has placed all rulers everywhere.  He has a plan, and it will come to pass, regardless of the will of the people.  I watch with great anticipation...

Dan 2:20  Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: Dan 2:21  And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:  ---We ceased being a great nation when we ceased being One Nation Under God.  This day has been a long time coming... --- Rom 1:21  Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Rom 1:22  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, Rom 1:23  And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Rom 1:24  Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Rom 1:25  Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

... will of the people. The way you phrased that would almost make it sound like America just died.

I fully accept God's will for this once great nation.
