love is a very complicated thing. and lust is quite simple. lust is just instinct, basic attraction. love gets all confusing.

I think it's different for men than women. If i don't have a little lust for the woman then love doesn't get to 1st base. And as i age, it becomes more necessary - for me. If i lust for a woman, i can overlook imperfections more easily, whereas if i love a certain woman, temptation exists from a purely physical need. I think most women are the complete opposite which explains the high divorce rate here in the US.

But it depends on which variety of the three known manifestation of love in Greek viz Agape, Phillia and Eros, we are talking about. Both Phillia and Eros are subject to the environment or condition wherein it exists. I will love you because you love me back sort of situation. If you stop loving me, I will probably stop loving you too. Agape (love) is unconditional though, love exist no matter the situation or environment. I will love you until my last breath, irespective of whether you continue to love me or not, kind of situation. Lust is related to your craving for something and when that craving is satisfied or stops, lust stop too. So specifically it is agape (love) that lasts for eternity.
