Do you think capital punishment really does deter crime?

Hi! I'm a student at Maranatha High School. I am doing an ethics project for one of my classes. One of the requirements was to make a poll. It would really help if you offered your opinion on capital punishment through this poll. The more feedback I get the better!

The death penalty is ILLEGAL in all European countries. I don't think that murders are more frequent here than in the US...

if it totally stopped it,  then crime would have ended in U.K. years ago, and in many U.S.A. states, and other parts of the world, so its Obvious it does Not stop crime, but i still think certain crimes should be delt with this way, as long as its done as Humanely as Possible

One thing it does, it stops that person from ever committing a crime again. However, the one colossal problem is, that it can never be revoked once carried out. And in the case of Islamic terrorism, where the people concerned have this idea of martyrdom, it can't be an answer, because it brings them their final reward, as far as they can tell.
