Do you miss old porn days?

Deep Throat director, Gerard Damiano (aka Jerry Gerard) died last weekend in Florida. He was 80 years old.

Damiano, a hairdresser from the Bronx, wrote and directed the quintessential 1972 porn film. It its obituary today, the New York Times writes: 

"Deep Throat” was “pornography’s ‘Gone With the Wind’ in terms of grosses... It attained emblematic status as one of the first hard-core films to reach a wide general audience, from self-conscious Middle Americans to self-congratulatory celebrities. “Porno chic,” the news media often called it." "All "Gerard" had was a cute idea for a porno comedy, and a leading lady with a special talent. He also wanted to change the movie's title, from The Sword Swallower. The producer objected that no one would understand the new title. "Don't worry," the director replied. "Deep Throat will become a household word." (Time)
