Oct 26th, 2008 | Sarah Palin survey

If McCain and Palin lose the election, should she be allowed to become a TV star?

Politico says: restrictions under the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act could disallow her (Sarah Palin) from accepting speaking fees or a salary for television appearances while she’s serving in state government.

What is wrong with the name Hussein?  It is a common name in many countries including Fiji and I have a friend called Hussein with whom I worked with and know way back in the first year of my working life back in 1964. Hussein means handsome, and Barak Obama's second name is Hussein isn't it? So why is there anxiety with using his name? I can't see how people can say they support Obama if they are embarased no end with the use of one of his names! Is this going to go on for the next four or eight years if he wins. You need to accept the truth. Having the same name as Sadam does not make him Sadam, or does it? Is this the problem?

Her own newspaper, the Anchorage Daily News, is endorsing Obama so evidently the Alaskans are wise to her shenanigans. It's not about disrespect, it's about ABILITY, or lack thereof.

She might be good at interviewing football players during the game on Sunday's - she was in sports journalism wasn't she?

I see that your definition of "verbally denigrate" does not include things like calling Barack Obama "Hussein", a common tactic used by right wingers, to insinuate that he is a terrorist, and something you yourself do often.

But she is a Governor of a State and I do not see why people disrespect her so much, just because she was asked to and she agreed to be the running mate of the GOP Presidential candidate. I have a lot of respect for all those four people who have raised their hands to vie to run the US in the next years. Just choose don't judge. I'd opt to vote for my choice but I would not verbally denigrate any of them.

She could appear on television WITHOUT taking any fees or salary, it seems to me. She could do Public Service Announcements on behalf of disabled children, for example.
