were you aware that obama and his bride do not give christmas or birthday presents to their two young daughters? (according to an interview with people magazine)

So, anyway, is there meaning behind the Obama’s not celebrating Christmas or birthdays?  Yannow, kind a like ...  Marxist socialists and Muslims don’t celebrate Christmas or birthdays either?
Quite an interesting coincidence if you ask me

The problem is, there are numerous holidays over this time of year. Saying "holidays" plural is a way of saying happy Christmas, Hannukah, Quaanza, New Year, and all the rest of them without having to list them all.-You just like saying there is some sort of conspiracy to ban christmas. But the only people to put it into legislation in America to ban Christmas- Puritans. Religious extremist nutbats.

I have discovered that Muslims DO celebrate birthdays.  They also allow for Muslims to enjoy other peoples' holidays with them.  They, themselves, do not believe in the holy day.  That would explain your cards.  Also, before I left the States, they were trying to make us say 'Happy Holidays' instead of 'Merry Christmas', officially taking the Christ out of Christmas, and inluding things like Jewish and  Winter Solstice/Yuletide type holidays in the wish.  People sing carols they don't even know are druid (Yuletide, sound familiar?)  They've been saying X-mas for years.  So no, it's not always called Christmas anymore, at least not in the States.

I'm voting for Mccain BUT sorry, I don't care what holidays ANY of our leaders celebrate or don't. I practice one of the earth religions and  I don't want Christianity shoved down my throat. It certainly shouldn't be a deal breaker for ANY office. Remember, the puritans arrived almost 400  years ago to ESCAPE religious persecuation. I don't celebrate holidays and it doesn't say anything about my ability to be fair, or treat my neighbor decently. Christmas has been warped by commercialism anyway. I think people need to keep their noses out of someone elses religious (or non) practices. It's an intensly personal subject. Our conservative breathren lose credibilty when they point out every ticky tacky thing on Obama instead of the things that really matter.

I am a Christian, and choose not to celebrate Christmas, mostly due to the commercialism of the holiday, as well as its pagan roots.  Jesus was not born in December.  But I see no harm in celebrating His birthday if you so desire, and tolerate my family's tradition for their benefit.  It has nothing to do with children's needs, only desires.  I once lived among a Chinese Buddhist family.  In their home country, they didn't even record children's birthdays.  Each person turned a year older on the New Year.  I have not been able to find out if these celebrations have any significance to the Muslim yet.  Obviously, Christmas is out, but birthday???  I am searching...

Disappointed. I thought you were going to start on that "war on christmas" thing that Republicans like to come up with at this time of year.

Yes that is true, I used to worship with such a church once, and not one of my children celebrated a birthday but as for Christmas one canot dodge it when your relatives turn up to wish you Merry Christmas. My grandchildren are now celebrating birthdays and I still cannot work out its evil. But then this church also disallowed women wearing lipstick and make-up or to speak in church. Racial inter-mariage, inter-dating and inter-dancing was prohibited. It was one of those american churches,
