that is why there are government grants, one which does not have to be repaid, to compensate....ALL they have to do is get off their lazy ass and do something about it...btw phil i grew up in a very poor rural area....what all i ahev I WORKED MY ASS OFF TO GET...not to mention that i managed my money properly...
i can tell you do not live here in the usa....they claim to not make enough money, but yet, they can buy very nice furniture, big screen tv's, nice cars, $150.00 tennis shoes, gold teeth and the list really does go n and on....to me that screams mismanagement of money...you may wonder how i know....well i will tell you....i used to work "out in the field" in construction....one of the jobs we did was to completely gut and remodel one of the housing projects here....you would be amazed at the things they own while having the government pay their rent...give me a break phil...
and do these grants cover living expenses? And is there enough money to cover everybody who qualifies for higher education (ie those whose grades are adequate)?
bullshit how? If you can't possibly earn enough to, for example, pay your debts or your rent, or whatever, it is impossible to get yourself out of that hole.
there are opportunities for all americans, black, brown, red, yellow and white to better themselves....and since when has anyone said they would get rid of those grants? no one....but granted black people have more options at hand.....because they are black....in fact at a mostly black college a white person can get a full scholarship because they are then the minority at said college...alabama a&m is one example
Only because they were more disadvantaged to begin with. If your parents are dirt poor, they are unable to pay for education are they? And you would probably be all for ending those government grants anyway.
then how come there are 5 million full time working poor in the US (definition being working more that 40 hours a week, but still under the official poverty line) There are people who climb out, but there are still people who are left behind who are working for $5 an hour and unable to make ends meet. In order to make ends meet, it is very common nowadays to have TWO full time incomes in a family. Time was that ONE full time income was able to buy a house and raise five kids. Now people are working three jobs... It is not a matter of black people being oppressed, but the poorest people, and most of the poorest people are black.
but your grandfather got out of poverty, because in Ohio, at that time, with the rubber industry with Goodyear and Firestone, etc, there were far more opportunities with higher pay... You can't hope to work yourself out of poverty unless you are paid enough to do it.
There is a photo of my Irish born immigrant grandfather behind a horse and plow, with a tractor in the next field, behind him. There is also a photo of my mother, at about 3 years old, sitting on the steps of a two room tar paper shack, where she grew up with 8 siblings, plus cousins. Poverty has afflicted more than just the African race in America. My grandfather went on to work at Goodyear, and was instrumental in the design of the doors of the blimp hanger. My mother went on to marry a Navy man, and the two, together worked themselves into upper middle class, over a period of years. These same opportunities were available in Ohio, for all races.
Wha? they can get government grants to better themselves through education easier and more often than white americans....so don't hand me that bullshit...the oppourtunities are there many are too lazy to do anything about it....and many woiuld prefer to have children they can not afford and force the government to take care of them....
those that choose to do nothing with their life have no one else to blame but themselves....there have been too many people that have pulled themselves up out of poverty for your argument to stand....
and how can they get beyond their station in life if they can't get the opportunities that the rest of us take for granted? They do not own property, not because they are lazy, but because their parents and grandparents were stopped from buying land in certain areas, they had good careers denied them... They have, for generations, remained the underclass. It has only been this century (yes under Bush) that they have had Cabinet positions. It has only been this century that one of them has made an actual credible run for the presidency. And he was able to make it because his grandparents had enough money, because they had equity in their home, and made sacrifices. They could afford to do this, because of the advantages that they had all the advantages of being white. Yes, black people are officially equal now, but they are still poor, and it is SO much harder to make your way when your parents had nothing, your grandparents had nothing. The prisons are full of black people, because they are an economic underclass, denied opportunity, not because of racism, but because their parents were denied so much. How are they supposed to go to college when their parents can't afford to send them?
Neither were Obama's, at least on his fathers side... But that does not somehow delete the fact that being black in America is a constant reminder of how they have been second class citizens, even after they were awarded citizenship.
Point a: Just because I'm a white American, it does not make me, as an individual, responsible for what has happened to them. NOT ONE of my ancestors was even in the United States while slavery was still legal. NOT ONE.---Point b: Being biased in any form of registration system is wrong, sways the vote in a certain direction, and is dirty politics. So much for an honest election. You see what I mean? It truly is on both sides.
Just because their own tribe or family sold them into slavery, does not make them, as individuals, responsible for what has happened to them. -And ACORN is working for the interests of low income people, and they believe that Obama can help these interests. What is the best way of getting him elected? Registering those who are most likely to vote for him, those being poor people. What is wrong with that? What is NOT likely to get him elected, is a bunch of phony registrations, which are not usable because ACORN THEMSELVES have red flagged them.
That's all well and good, Phil, if Obama was a real black American, and had ancestors who had been American slaves. Obama is 50 % caucasian (mother), 43.75 Arabic, and 6.25 African Negro. His father's (12.5 Negro/87.5 Arab) birth certificate states that he is Arab. Obama's name is fully Arabic. If they would ever release Obama's certified birth certificate, maybe he'd be listed as black on that, regardless of his bloodline. But since, so far as I know, they still haven't, I'm going with what his bloodline says - which makes him more white than anything else. Negro is bottom of the list, with far far more Arabic. Maybe if he had grown up in an American black community it would be more convincing, instead of with his wealthy stepdad in Indonesia.... Obama does not represent the African American community, and there are quite a few African American people who realize this. He's just using his skin colour to his advantage (or at least trying to).
1)ayers is an unrepentant domestic terrorist and as of 2001 he still has anti-american sentiment....and he proved it by dancing on the american flag...2)rezko is in jail, where he should be...the sweetheart deal he gave obama is something not just anyone could have gotten...3)ACORN is threatening it's workers with termination of employment if they do not reach their quotas...in hand forcing them to register people already registered and people that do not exist...not to mention all of the money ayers and obama allotted them for that purpose...not to mention the fact they are supposed to be nonpartisan....but yet there is video of an ACORN meeting incriminating them on the fact they are for obama...in the video an elderly lady says they need to get obama elected...they are a non profit and should not take sides...but that is exactly what they have done...4)good ole rev wright is a hate monger and anti-american...and there is no way in hell that obama had no clue as to this man's real feelings about the usa...5)and we can't leave out franklin raines who is about to be undser investigation for the failure of fannie mae....and since the dems are in control of congress and since we are not far out of the election cycle they want to wait until after the elections to investigate...better late than never...they KNOW if they investigate before the election it could jeopardize obama getting elected along with other democrat members of congress...and don't you DARE preach to me about black people being downtrodden...many were sold into slavery by their own tribe/family...i am choctaw and my people, the american indian KNOW what it is like to be bullied and murdered by the american government of old...our land was taken from us without due compensation...IF anyone has a right to feel angry it is the american indians...
I have read all of them, they seem to be all about the same things, 1) Ayers, a professor who was honored by the State of Illinois for obtaining a $50,000,000 grant from the Annenberg foundation for education, and who used to be an activist who caused property damage. 2) rezko who sold Obama a small piece of land. 3) ACORN, who are being defrauded by people who are putting in fake voter registration forms, which are unusable, and there is no evidence that there are any plans to actually use those voter registrations to actually vote. And the whole "secret muslim" thing. And the Reverend Wright, who has been so worked up, and why? Lets see. Black people have been downtrodden since the days when they were kidnapped from the shores of Africa. You could say that they have a right to feel angry.
