Oct 16th, 2008 | Joe The Plumber Keating survey

How do you feel about "Joe the Plumber" being related to Charles Keating?

"So, you remember Joe the Plumber," writes Robert J. Elisberg in The Huffington Post.  "The apparently undecided plumber who had complained to Barack Obama that he couldn't buy his own plumbing company because he'd have to pay 3% more in taxes. The plumber who John McCain lauded as an Everyman . . . .  You see, Joe Wurzelbacher is apparently related to Robert Wurzelbacher. Who is the son-in-law of (are you ready...?) Charles Keating!

"Yes, that Charles Keating. The Charles Keating of the Keating 5 Scandal. For which John McCain was reprimanded by the United States Senate, for his involvement in attempting to illegally influence government regulators. The Charles Keating who John McCain has been trying to avoid have mentioned. So, he basically mentioned it 24 times."

How do you feel about Joe the Plumber being Charles Keatings son-in-law?

The Right has a far greater history of smearing... Rember the swift boats? Somebody gets wounded three times in Vietnam and suddenly he is some kind of traitor? If the Left stooped to such tactics as the Right did, then it would be all over every campaign ad that most of the 5 plane crashes that McCain was in, WERE HIS FAULT. But we have kept mostly quiet about that.

To hell with your characterization of "leftist tradition." I was going to comment on the fact that these were two different Keatings, but then I read the things you had to say, so never mind.

And...it doesn't matter...turns out the KOS Kiddies screwed up.  The  Robert Wurlzelbacher Joe is related to isn't the one who's Keating's son-in-law.  Oops.  I'm sure that the good folks at Huffpo will apologize soon.  Not.  The Robert that Joe is related to is his 83 year old father...not the 37 year old son in law of Charles Keating.

William Ayers is an unrepentant (his own words) domestic terrorist (my words, but what else do you call a man who bombed police stations and the Pentagon).  He sat on numerous boards with Senator Obama, he held fundraisers for Senator Obama, and Senator Obama wrote a blurb for the jacket of Ayers' book. Obama first denied knowing Ayers, then said "he's just a guy who lives in my neighborhood, his kids go to school with mine (odd, Ayers kids must be slow since they're in their 30's), then said he and Ayers sat on some boards together, and yes he held a fundraiser for me that I attended. This is a bit different from smearing a plumber, who's cousin, several times removed, is an in law to Charles Keating.

And the Republicans don't do that?  Hello, the bogus scandal about William Ayers!

Ahhh...the leftist tradition...Joe disagrees with us...we must smear Joe, destroy Joe.  Joe is divorced.  Joe's fourth cousin's brother in-law is releated to Charles Keating.  Joe must die.  Obama is related (by blood, not marriage) to Dick Cheney...so what??
