Politicians life is hard on everyone who involved. I am related to an ex-Canadian-Member of Parliament. Its hardest on person, who running for that life but there family are also effected.
Four, 2 in 1987, and one each in 2000 and 2006. The earlier three were popular but this last one is most unpopular, and every effort done by this guy to get people behind him is failing and he is developing into a dictator using public funds to pay for his support.
I at one time aspired to be a politician, with a vision to become a Prime Minister - I even served on the Management Board of a major ruling political Party, and there learnt that it was not my idea of a life, so I became a career Public Servant, and served my country that way.
I would take it further than my 'friends', and see what others wanted in a politician if I could. Then I would think about it. But with my fear of public speaking, and stutter when nervous, I don't think it would be a good thing. (Yes, I have faced this idea before, and decided against it, because of this.)

It is probably safer in Fiji to not be Prime Minister. How many coups have you lived through?
