This is rather innaccurate. Telephone was invented independently by Alexander Graham Bell. The phone that was invented in Germany never actually worked. Therefore it is ineligable. The invention of the computer cannot be really narrowed down to one person, it is a matter of how you define the term computer. Jeans were invented by a German, but in San Francisco. Britain's Frank Whittle invented the Jet Engine. and who are Blend a Mend? I have never heard of them. And some of the people mentioned are only world famous within Germany. -On the other hand, it is very difficult to mention German achievements without mentioning certain unfortunate incidents. They seem to be glossed over here. I find this whole video rather... uncomfortable for this reason. Yes, Germany should be very proud as many great people came from Germany. -A similar video for Australia would be good... but it might be a bit shorter because of our population, including things like refrigeration, black box flight recorders, bionic ears, long wearing contact lenses, baby car safety capsules, speedos and the full length feature film.
Engineering is their strength - design not so much, and clothing and style? 3rd world. Beer - good. Wine - above average, but not diverse. Food - heavy. Women - robust. Attitude - stubborn or determined (whoever you want to define it).
I thought some of the info. in the video was wrong, so I went fishing.....Jeans weren't invented in Germany though. They were invented by two immigrants, Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss from Latvia (with German decent) here in America during the year of 1873( http://www.ideafinder.com/history/inventions/bluejeans.htm) Also, Germans being credited with the invention of the car is a metter of opinion. (http://www.loc.gov/rr/scitech/mysteries/auto.html) Germans definitely didn't invent the telephone though. The telephone was technically invented by Antonio Meucci (an Italian born inventor) in Havana. He had a working model in 1848 and a perfected model in 1871. He did not renew the caveat 3335 due to a lack of money. Had he renewed it, Bell would not have been given a patent. Bell capitilized on the fact that Meucci could not renew is the caveat (http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Who_invented_the_telephone) . Anyway, it's neat that someone took the time to compile all of this information (even if it's inaccurate) and put it into a video.
Hate to brake it to you but the telphone was invented in canada, and jeans were invented in Amarica.
That was me mentioning australian inventions...Got logged out...
