Baseball fans: Do you want your MLB-TV?

The New York Times reports that "Major League Baseball does not believe there is enough baseball on television. . . .  It wants ubiquity, a 24/7 home, so it is building its own cable channel, the MLB Network, in Secaucus, N.J., with opening day scheduled for Jan. 1."

The president of the new network, Tony Petitti, tells the Times, "We want to be the authentic home of baseball."  Full story here.

I don't like Professional Baseball, but local amateur games are fun to watch. When you're watching professionals play, and a fly is popped out into center field, you KNOW that the center-fielder will catch it. He's a professional. In my opinion, that's boring. Maybe it would be more interesting if they doubled the number of players on the team, and made them play as though it were a three-legged race... some kind of handicap like that.
