Are you reluctant to put a campaign sticker for the Presidential nominee of your choice on your car for fear it will be vandalized?

I searched bumper sticker vandalism. What were your search criteria? Because if you searched something like"anti republican vandalism" then of COURSE you would come up with a bunch of stories about vandalism against Republicans and none against democrats.

I think it is a matter of isolated cases of individuals getting very angry and taking out their frustrations on cars of people who do not believe as they do. It is not rife.

OK as challenged to by the Shrew, I googled it. Here are the first couple of pages worth of results, of reports of actual vanadalism. Most of the pages had to do with people fearing retribution for wearing a Bush/cheney bumper sticker. Yes, Bush Cheney. Most of these pages are from FOUR YEARS AGO. And most of the ACTUAL complaints of vandalism that I found were the cars of Obama supporters, lesbians and atheists. There was one report of one Air Force veteran vandalising cars sporting Bush stickers, and that was back in 2005. Most of the hits were of blogs of right wingers who were afraid to put bumper stickers on their cars because they might get vandalised. They outnumbered the rest by a wide margin. http://www.yourbbsucks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3787http://www.komonews.com/news/archive/4131001.htmlhttp://www.nationalreview.com/kurtz/kurtz200410070852.asphttp://irregulartimes.com/index.php/archives/2008/06/11/general-election-vandalism-in-columbus-ohio/http://www.atlantaprogressivenews.com/news/0030.htmlhttp://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008/jun/17/police-lesbians-vehicles-vandalized-boulder-longmo/

Of course, if Rush Limbaugh or somebody asks people to call in and tell him stories of their cars being vandalised because of their stickers, he would be inundated with calls. Maybe dozens. But dozens of cars being vandalised is not a high percentage when you consider there are 300 ish million people in the US. And if such damage IS prevalent, then maybe it is because the Far Right is increasingly unpopular, thanks to its policies, and its President.

It is not as prevalent as the far right echo chamber would have you believe. Yes, if Rush opens his calls he would be swamped with dozens of callers with stories of having their cars vandalised, but that is in a nation of 300 million. Stick a Darwinfish on a car and it is far more likely to be vandalised.

There you go. In Alabama, cars with republican stickers do not get vandalised. Now try that experiment with a car with Democrat stickers.

I think its foolish to take an expensive item (like a car), park it in a relatively unsupervised area (like a mall or grocery store parking lot) with any opinion on it which may spark retaliation.  I have atheist friends who put the darwin fish on their cars... they buy the stickers in lots of 10, because they are frequently torn off.  Periodically, they will be more severely vandalized.  I don't see the point, myself, of provoking damage like that.

It's not the cars with Obama stickers that are being vandalized.
