Which god specifically you we refering to? Hindu, Christian, Jewish, Buddist, Shintoism, Jain, Sikh, Muslim etc etc there so many gods that people worship - so which are we refering to here?
I'm not sure where you're coming from on this... The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom... Perfect love casteth out fear... It's one that Christians often debate. If you're asking if I took a free ticket to heaven out of fear of going to hell, gotta say absolutely no. It would be out of love, love for Who He is, and what He's done, knowing that He first loved me. But knowing Who He is brings the awesome respect that only God is due. Knowing that He loves me, brings more awe, because I can't figure out why. They really do go hand in hand. It's not a simple question, to say the least.
out of Love my butt he will smight yo' behind if you talk bad about him
The beginning of wisdom is the realization that there is no god.

Why would somebody fear anything but a malevolent being though?
