Maybe a more appropriate question would be (are terrorist Muslim?)Then my answer would be yes, there are far more muslim terrorist than any other kind. And most Muslims are at least sympathetic to terrorist too!
You only have to look at recent history in Ireland to know that terrorism isn't exclusive to Muslims. When I was a child, if a bomb went off somewhere in the UK often people's thoughts would jump to the RIRA who are predominantly (if not entirely) Christian. From what I know of Islam, it teaches tolerance and peace, as does Christianity, but unfortunately a certain minority do not interpret it in that way.
Sadly, I believe that a shockingly high percentage of muslims are sympathetic to terrorists and approve of terrorism against western countries. A lot of muslims donate money to "muslim causes" like the PLO which end up funding terrorism, too. However, I certainly wouldn't believe that any significant percentage of muslims are actually terrorists or knowingly contribute to terrorism.
Terrorism is found in many idologies. Communists, nationalists, religious groups, the extremists will, especially in times they feel threatened, lash out. The terrorists have corrupted Islam, and taken advantage of young people who feel that they are in a hopeless situation, and give them a way to commit suicide- with a bomb vest. The only way to counter this is to show how dishonorable these people are. If you simply kill them, then their brothers and cousins will all take up a gun.
