Has SNL gone too far?

Excerpt from SNL aired this past Saturday evening, guest hosted by James Franco.

In a skit, SNL show guest host James Franco plays an assignment editor at the New York Times at the head of an editorial meeting. During a mock assignment meeting where the paper announced that 50 reporters were being sent to look for dirt on Sarah Palin, a Times "reporter" asks, "What about the husband? You know he's doing those daughters. I mean, come on. It's Alaska."

In response, Franco's character said, "He very well could be. Admittedly, there is no evidence of that, but on the other hand, there is no convincing evidence to the contrary. And these are just some of the lingering questions about Gov. Palin."

Only if you can only think of racist jokes.

This sketch is clearly a commentary on how journalists will go to any lengths to smear Palin, and shows how they are going too far.

She told Charley Gibson that she wouldn't "blink" or hesitate to attack another country if provoked. I don't think anything on SNL irks her. Plus, she has her moose gun...

I remember when I moved back to the US in 1990, people kept talking about Saturday Night Live.  I watched it like 6 or 7 times waiting for something funny, but it was just asinine.  I've seen the odd skit (on YouTube) that looks pretty funny from the past two decades, but by-and-large, it looks like crap.  Not that this particular skit is offensive to me at all.

Of course not. DUMBOcrats have double standards. It's difficult to joke about Obama because right away the DUMBOcrats scream "racist" & get out the deck of "race cards".

So it would have been just as humorous had it been about the Barack and his daughters?

Allegations of incest are just not funny.

I agree that Saturday Night Live isn't funny anymore.I did not see this episode last Saturday.However. reading what you read, that is a very very funny line. Who would be offended by that? The mainstream press and mud slinging politicians themselves say much worse, you're right, but that was a good line.

They don't understand this can only help the McCain/Palin ticket.
