What is the best choice known to the U.S. in preventing Iran from attaining nuclear weapons.

The U.N. International Atomic Energy Agency produced photographs and documents last week showing that Iran has reconfigured the Shahab-3 missile, to carry a nuclear weapon.

The shahab-3 which was on display yesterday at a military parade in Tehran has the capability to reach 1,200 miles, that's enough to reach Eastern Europe, Israel, part of Egypt and U.S. military forces based in Turkey and Iraq.

check out the scoop

Well, Reagan handled the issue of the Iranians by selling them arms and giving the money to fund a civil war in El Salvador. And making a deal to not release the hostages until after he was sworn into office.

Provoking them will only encourage them to build more bombs, and use them.

Military action could provoke another war, and Iran has borders on Afghanistan and Iraq. Imagine what would happen if all of a sudden, the Iranians could start overt action on overstretched American forces on two fronts where the US are isolated, both georgraphically and culturally?

the problem is that doing nothing about it and hiding behind the UN has the same results. This is proven now.

I think Obama should ask Jimmy Carter how to handle the situation.

Behaving threateningly towards Iran only invites them to try to arm more. So what is needed is a finely balanced foreign policy. Going about declaring war on people will scare them, and this causes them to try to obtain every weapon they can get their hands on, and to elect regimes that are willing and able to use them.
