As was pointed out, there are certainly contemporary examples. I agree that those examples are the craziest of people, but I don't think extremist muslims are "normal" muslims. Most muslims (in my experience) are decent people.
Theocracy is about oppressing everybody, whether they believe the same as you or not. To follow the most extreme interpritation of whatever holy book it is, according, of course, to whoever gets to be Ayatollah, or Lord Protector, or Pope, or High Priest, or Grand Inquisitor, or whatever. The trouble is, this guy means it, just like those Westboro baptists mean it when they say homosexuals should be put to death. And looking at the picture that you posted, If you said something insulting about Islam to his face, he is likely to whip his knife out and slit your throat. --'Is theocracy a bad thing? You bet it is.

I don't insult ANY religion because they are all straws connected to one source of water.
