I put almost all of my retirement money in "stable value bonds" almost a year ago. As usual, that offered almost no return on investment, but every other money market available within my 401k has lost money. It was my wife's idea -- and it was brilliant... Prior to that, I had lost about $30k, and I obviously would have done worse if I'd left it where it was. My non-401k investments are doing really well, though.
Aside from recent tumultous but not drastic fluctuations I do not recall the American stock market crashing? It really hasn't even come close. I know that this did happen once early in the former century. Hopefully it will not happen in this century or ever again for that matter.
This is not a stock market crash. The market has dropped less than it did in '71, 74, 77, 78, '87, or '97. Technically we've only been in a Bear Market for three months.

The Dow is down another 450 points today and my 401K is down $100,000. You may not think the economy is in bad shape, but I do.

Yesterday, when I posted this poll, it was looking like a crash.
