well let's see....saddam had rape chambers and he murdered hundreds if not thousands of people....was working on biological weapons....hell our boys even found fighter planes burried in the sand....and there were no where near as many military or civilian deaths compared to WW2....the media has changed since back in those days....not to mention journalism has died...and left leaning non-investigating reporters have taken their place....they report before thay investigate...by the time they find out the truth the retraction they have to make is not seen by near as many of people that saw the original hit piece...

I dont really think so, because they would also be reporting on the death camps in Germany and Poland, the brutality of the Russian Front, the fact that the Russians were advancing quickly and if they were left to their own devices then they would have all of Europe...

with the way media is today, i think they would report how appalled they are at the massive death count....and call for retreat and withdrawal...

Every war is different. The press would have, in the case of D Day focused on the success of the mission, particularly on beaches Juno, Gold and Sword, as well as the Soviet sacrifice on the Russian Front, which was also advancing. Propaganda needs to be effectively controlled. And at the moment the other side has the advantage, because it is us in their territory for a start, which means that we have to be careful. If they are hiding amongst the women and children, the worst thing would be to attack at that point, even though it is the easiest, because it would be a massive propaganda tool, with which they could recruit thousands.

war is not pretty....it is quite ugly....but what has to be done, has to be done....i wonder how today's press would cover WW2....especially all those poor souls that died on the beach...

I agree, but THIS is playing right into the terrorists hands. They are deliberately hiding amongst the civilian population, which for them is a win win situation, because if the US does not go after them, then they get away with it, and if they DO go after them, innocent civilians are "martyred" and the US name is further blackened. Just like with the bombing of Cambodia during Vietnam.

This has echoes of the bombing of Cambodia during the Vietnam War.
