Is masturbation "the new adultery?" (comments??)

A number of articles, including this one in Details, talk about how masturbation and Internet porn habits are being seen as "the new infidelity."

"What may bother your partner most of all, though, is just whom you're keeping virtual company with—an ex-girlfriend, the new girl in the office, Natalie Portman in Closer—while the bathroom door is locked," says Details. "Which is why most women settle on a don't-ask-don't-tell policy regarding their partners' masturbatory fantasies."

i dont mind him masturbating but he is under no circumstances allowed to look at porn or talk to any other woman ever-dont worry i have the exact same rules. I am 100% completely faithful and I expect my partner to be otherwise he wont be my partner.

No it is not. That is absolutely ridiculous. Adultery would have to be with an actual person, wouldn't it?And if you suspect that your partner is masturbating and that makes you insecure, then you have serious problems?

I believe strongly in don't ask, don't tell.If you do it in private and away from your partner, since you must in the first place, who's it harming? And why should your partner worry about who you are fantasizing about while you do it? Is this not 'thought police.'?
