Nixon at least SPOKE to the American people without the fear of stumbling and bumbling like W. And he was smart too and didn't need crowds of soldiers as a backdrop when he spoke. Nixon was paranoid, whereas Bush's whole Administration is. Bush's too dumb to be paranoid by himself, besides, he does what Rove and Cheney tell him to do.

Ike didn't trust Nixon but the Party wanted him. Ike really didn't want to run anyhow but i think Bradly convinced him having a military man to combat the possible threat of the Russians.

How about the illegal wiretapping that they lied about over and over? Personally, I'd like to see some investigatory sunlight cast on Cheney's super secret Energy Task Force. Who was there? What did they decide? What about "Plamegate?" Who forged the phoney documents from Niger, giving Bush the yellowcake nonsense that he used to frighten Congress into giving him War Powers? But why stop there at defying Article I of our Constitution? How about scrapping habeus corpus? Posse comitatus?  How about the politicalization of our judiciary? State Attorneys were pressured to act in the interests of the Republican Party, and lost their job if they failed to do so. I'd like to see investigation into the rampant cronyism. Oh, there's PLENTY to investigate.

Nixon wasn't stupid like Bush, he was just paranoid,  poor Ike cringed when tricky Dick was selected as his partner. Nixon was blackballed by the military as an extremest, a precursor to the current Fascist attitude the war-mongering right-wing propagates. Bush is just an idiot on steroids and his buddy, McCain, wants to continue the on-going philosophy of stupidity.

Never in our short history has any Prez blatantly treated the American citizens as mushrooms - keeping us in the dark and feeding us shit.
