Votes dopn't matter in the USA.  There are never a broad enough spectrum of possibilities (like two) and the electoral college is DESIGNED to trivialize our democracy as much as possible.  It does this quite well.

Top Ten Reasons Not to Vote for Republicans in 2008 10. If you get cancer, and don’t have insurance, you lose your life and your home, and Republicans are making a profit from your death. Millions of Americans are dead because they couldn’t afford to pay. Health care is the new Eugenics. 9. When was the last time gas was a dollar a gallon? Oh yes, the Clinton years, 1998. Why? Because of good management, that’s why. 8. The government is staffed with former lobbyists for the industries they’re supposed to regulate. 7. The first people on the scene after Hurricane Katrina? Blackwater mercenaries. Has anything been done to prevent the same destruction from happening again? Nope. 6. Intentionally uncounted thousands of war dead, in a war that has no purpose but to enrich bankers, oil companies, mercenaries, and weapons manufacturers, from the treasury of the United States (funded by you). 5. McCain will start another war. 4. McCain will raise your taxes. 3. When your 13 year old daughter is raped, she will be required by law to bear the child. The mother will die in childbirth, and her rapist-spawned baby will grow up and kill you. 2. They are greedy, cultist, demagogues. The constant propaganda is so “Saddam.” 1. “Liberal” is the new “Jew.” This November, please hold the Republicans accountable for their reprehensible attacks on humanity, and their relentless pursuit of profits at the expense of human life.

I always vote.  Even in the small elections.  It is my right and my dutie.  I always remind young people to register and vote, the minute they turn 18.
