Biggest selling point for Liberace bio-pic?

Variety reports that Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh ("Traffic") is developing a biopic about Liberace, the flamboyant pianoman/entertainer.

Michael Douglas will reportedly star, and Matt Damon is in talks to play Scott Thorson, "who sued Liberace in 1982 for $113 million in palimony, claiming he was the entertainer’s companion for five years," writes Variety.  "Even though Liberace never wavered from career-long denials that he was gay, Thorson reportedly settled for $95,000 in 1986. Liberace died in 1987 of complications from AIDS at age 67."

Neither did Liberace towards the end... He had more plastic surgery than Michael Jackson, he could not even blink at the end, and his toupee hid a mass of surgical scars. Make up will do wonders. Look at the movie, Ed Wood. Martin Landau looks NOTHING like Bela Lugosi, but once you put a fake nose and chin on him...The advantage is, that Liberace had so much plastic surgery that his REAL face looked fake.

Michael Douglas? He doesn't look anything like Liberace.

I wonder if they will kiss each other convincingly. And Douglas will have to be surrounded by a bevy of georgeous girls, who he has to pretend he is attracted to, but can't bear to look at or even touch, like when Liberace was on Batman...

wow. I had not heard about this. Well Matt Damon and Michael Douglas are both pretty good (not great) actors and a Liberace Biographical film sounds like an amazing idea.I'll see this.
