Sep 11th, 2008 | Obama survey

Using the same methodology, as obama, you would probably find that most Democrat senators also voted with Bush 90% of the time....does that make them all just like mccain?

Fact is, where there is an actual contested and meaningful vote in the Senate you'll find McCain voting "with Bush" only 45% of the time.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

McCain fought for campaign finance reform — McCain-Feingold — that Bush resisted and ultimately signed because he had no choice. McCain led the battle to restrict interrogation techniques of terror suspects and to ban torture. McCain went with Joe Lieberman on a tough measure to curb climate change, something Bush denies is going on. McCain opposed the Bush tax cuts when they passed. McCain urged the Iraq surge, a posture Bush rejected for years before conceding its wisdom. McCain favors FDA regulation of tobacco and sponsored legislation to that effect, a position all but a handful of Republican senators oppose. McCain's energy bill, also with Lieberman, is a virtual blueprint for energy independence and development of alternate sources. After the Enron scandal, McCain introduced sweeping reforms in corporate governance and legislation to guarantee pensions and prohibit golden parachutes for executives. Bush opposed McCain's changes and the watered-down Sarbanes-Oxley bill eventuated. McCain has been harshly critical of congressional overspending, particularly of budgetary earmarks, a position Bush only lately adopted (after the Democrats took over Congress).

i was just tired of the line that mccain voted with bush 90% of the time....first off bush doesn't have a vote....and a good portion of the votes in the senate are darn near unanimous.....making many democrats just like mccain and bush, using obama's methodology...

You might've credited Dick Morris for the pasted article (Note to readers: most of the piece is pasted here on this poll, but for the complete article, entitled "Dems's Big Blunder and McCain's Big Chance," you can find it here.) -Morris is a real spinmeister, alright. Notice that a lot of these positions that he mentions are almost decade old. For example, although McCain voted against the Bush tax cuts, he now fully supports them and is campaigning on the idea of extending them. Morris' "analysis" is flawed in many ways. I can take it apart point-by-point if you need me too. -You know, I recognized that phrase "virtual blueprint" and said to myself, "Aha! It's Dick Morris!" You know that the guy was an advisor to both Bill Clinton and Trent Lott? I wonder if he personally believes in anything... he seems content to argue either side of an issue. Oh, and about that energy bill? The National Review's Roy Cordato calls it a simple "hidden energy tax." Really, there isn't much to it, certainly not enough to call it a "virtual blueprint" of anything. And I suspect that Dick Morris knows that as well as I do.

If I am viewing the information correctly, the democrats are unlike McCain because they support Bush more than he does. That makes Obama's claims wrong, thus rendering his methodology useless. IDK.....maybe my thinking is backwards on this, or I am not understanding the question.  :-) Either way, supporting one's president isn't necessarily a bad thing.
