I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to people. My sympathy is usually saved for close friends and family members. However, I have an unending sympathy for animals!
It depends. If it's something that someone did to themselves then no. If it's something someone was victim to but they can change then no again. I had a nightmarish first 15 or 20 years of life and survived by my own strength of will. So my sympathy for people is really kind of low. Animals however, <<<<big sucker!
